Welcome to Howes Nursery

We are a small nursery offering a caring, stimulating and safe environment for children to learn and play both indoors and outdoors.

We provide care for children from age 3 upwards.  Sessions run (term time only) every morning from 9.00am – 12.00pm.  We are able to take up to 26 children.

We are based within the school building and have a wonderful outdoor area for the children to learn in and explore.

Healthy Eating

We provide children with a healthy snack each morning and a drink of milk/water.  If your child has special dietary requirement a snack can be brought in from home.

EYFS – A Parent Guide

In Nursery we work from ‘The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum’ and we track each child’s progress throughout the school year.

There are seven areas of Learning and Development Communication and Language:

  • Physical Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding of the World
  • Creative Development

Settling In

Home visits take place during the first week of September.  This will be an opportunity for us to meet you and your child in a setting that is familiar to them.

We employ a staggered entry approach to allow children to have time to settle, get to know their teachers, other children and the routine.

Daily Routine

9.00am – 10.15am

Staff support children’s learning and development through a range of indoor and outdoor play based activities. Children can play freely with self chosen resources.

The snack bar is open throughout the morning and children can choose when to come to the table to have this.

10.15am – 10.30am

We may have PE or a music and movement session over in the school hall. We may enjoy the bikes and scooters or balls and hoops in the playground. We may play some letters and sounds games. We always plan around the needs and interests of the children each day.

11.45am – 12.00pm

Whole class carpet time. Time to talk about our day, share news, sing together or perhaps enjoy a story.

We say goodbye and go home

Show and Tell

Children have the opportunity to bring toys from home at certain points throughout every term.  A letter will be sent home when these opportunities arise.  Please refrain from bringing other toys into school to avoid items being lost of damaged.

We currently have spaces in our nursery – Please contact us if you would like to consider taking up a place with us.
